DCI boss George Kinoti resigns
This was revealed by President William Ruto while unveiling his Cabinet on Tuesday.
President Ruto said Kinoti has formally resigned, having served as the country’s top detective under former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
“This afternoon I have received the resignation of DCI director George Kinoti. I have transmitted the same to the National Police Service to proceed with advertising that position,” Ruto said.
The President said he will pick someone to act in the place of Kinoti as his replacement awaits.
Before he became president, Ruto had indicated that Kinoti would not be spared as he accused him of being used by Uhuru’s administration to frustrate those opposed to his ideas.
During his tenure, the DCI made a number of arrests that Ruto’s camp deemed targeted, a move believed to have put Kinoti at loggerheads with the current president.
