CS Tobiko attacks DP Ruto calling him a clerk
The row that has been simmering in the Jubilee Party has erupted into a full scale political combat.
Environment Cabinet Secretary Keriako Tobiko on Friday blasted the deputy president, calling him a mere clerk.
“The deputy president should be the clerk of the president,” said Tobiko adding that “and the way I respect the President as his clerk, even the deputy president and Murkomen should respect the President.
Tobiko’s stinging attack came as he toured parts of Narok with his statement arising from the tweet by Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen in which the legislator referred to Tobiko as a mere clerk who needed to respect the President.
“Mr. Tobiko you are a mere clerk in Jubilee government. You forget so fast that you became a CS because the President was trying to get rid of you from the office of DPP. You have no moral authority to lecture your boss the DP even if he is being molested by his boss.First try to be MCA,” tweeted Murkomen.
In response, the Tobiko on Friday said: “Murkomen amekua kama yeye pekee ndo anajua kutukana viongozi wengine na kutukana rais. Nyinyi watu wa television muambie Murkomen awe na adabu na amheshimu rais.”
The gloves coming off after Tobiko and his cabinet colleagues Dr. Fred Matiang’i and Mutahi Kagwe had fired the first salvo on Thursday, bashing Deputy President William Ruto for hosting delegations at his Karen residence, ostensibly, to marshal his numbers ahead of the 2022 State House succession race.
“Under the Constitution, there is only one office that is recognised and that is the President of the Republic of Kenya and that office is not vacant,” said Tobiko, drawing instant reaction from the deputy president’s leitenants, among them Murkomen.
Murkomen claimed that Tobiko got his job as a soft landing after the President sought to fire him as Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
“Without the blessings of the President these idiotic CSs would never have insulted the DP. William Ruto is not anyone’s clerk, he was jointly elected with the President and without him Uhuru would not be President and Tobiko would never be a clerk. In a working state Tobiko would be sacked,” tweeted Murkomen.
That the UhuRuto political marriage is in tatters is all too obvious, the divorce proceedings turning vicious and messy, with their allies no longer concealing the target of their political punches.
Ruto’s allies have accused the president of letting loose some cabinet secretaries and senior government officials to undermine his deputy, who has been seemingly reduced to an outsider in the government he helped establish in 2013 and 2017.
