CS Muturi is on his way out: Kimani Ichung'wah reveals

National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung'wah has hinted at the probable exit of Public Service CS Justin Muturi following his fallout with his boss, President William Ruto.

Speaking during an Al Jazeera interview, the lawmaker alleged that the former Speaker had reasons to lie about his son Leslie Muturi's abductions during the anti-government protests held last year.

Ichung'wah dismissed Muturi's side of the story that the director of the National Intelligence Service (NIS) Noordin Haji was behind his son's abduction and he was freed following President Ruto's intervention.

The Kikuyu MP asserted that Muturi was on his way out owing to "his beef with his boss."

"It is an allegation from CS Muturi. Have you heard from President Ruto or the Director of Intelligence Service? That's why I told you CS Muturi is a politician and has beef with his boss," Ichung'wah noted.

"There are reasons why he was removed as Attorney General last year during last year's demonstrations. There are reasons why Muturi is probably on his way out."

Undeterred, award-winning British-American journalist Mehdi Hassan continuously poked holes in the widespread disaffection of the Kenya Kwanza administration within a span of two years.

The journalist wondered how Ichung'wah could dismiss claims from a sitting Cabinet Secretary.

"I told you emphatically that the minister has reasons to lie. And he knows it (he's on his way out). He's playing politics with a very unfortunate incident."

The fallout between CS Muturi and President Ruto has unfolded in the past months, with the former mounting an offensive against the Kenya Kwanza administration over failed policies and abductions.

Critics have argued that Muturi is following the same script that Ruto used on former President Uhuru Kenyatta, whom he constantly accused of the issues that befell the country.

Following Ichung'wah's remarks, it will be keen to see whether President Ruto retains Muturi as a lame duck in his cabinet or fires him.
