CS Kindiki orders DCI to take over probe of Geoffrey Mwathi's death at DJ Fatxo's house
Interior Cabinet Secretary Prof Kithure Kindiki
has ordered the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Mohamed Amin to heighten
investigations into the mysterious death of Geoffrey Mwathi while at Kikuyu benga artist DJ Fatxo’s
apartment in Kasarani last month.
In a statement on Friday, CS Kindiki directed the DCI boss to
involve the expertise of homicide detectives to help solve the case.
“On the matter of the late Jeff Mwathi,
have spoken to the DCI Mr Amin this morning and instructed him to send a
homicide team from the DCI headquarters to thoroughly investigate the incident
and take the necessary action,” the CS wrote.
“I thank the DCI for his quick action on this matter. The homicide team from the DCI headquarters is dispassionate, and this will help resolve the claims of collusion at Kasarani Police Station where the matter was reported.”
The DCI has since confirmed taking over the matter.
"Detectives from the Homicide department based at DCI Headquarters, have this morning taken over investigations into the death of 23-year-old Jeff Mwathi, from Kasarani police station," said the DCI in a tweet.
