'Continue going anywhere in the world,' Gachagua tells Ruto amid criticism on foreign trips
Speaking in Mombasa ahead of King Charles III and Queen Camilla's visit to Mtongwe Naval Base on Thursday, Gachagua reiterated that Ruto's overseas excursions were not mere tourist endeavors, but essential business trips with tangible benefits for Kenyans.
"Continue going anywhere in the world, anywhere you will find much benefits for Kenyans," he said.
He argued that if leisure was the goal, there were picturesque domestic destinations like Mombasa and the Maasai Mara readily available.
He emphasized that President Ruto inherited a nation facing severe economic challenges and is diligently working to rectify the situation.
"To those who criticize President Ruto's foreign trips, the tangible results of his global travels can be witnessed right here on this island,” Gachagua stated.
The Deputy President further pointed out that the Head of State’s international visits have elevated Kenya's global presence and attracted significant investments, underscoring the nation's reputation as a peaceful country.
“If in your wisdom see that there is much to be benefitted from by Kenyans from the US and China, I encourage you to board the next flight to those destinations and explore those benefits,” he remarked towards Ruto.
Ruto's foreign trips recently faced criticism, prompting the Head of State to address the issue during a church service in Eldoret on October 29.
He asserted his role as the country's chief ambassador and the trips were aimed at securing job opportunities and investments for Kenyans.
Adding salt to injury for critics, he also revealed his upcoming visit to Saudi Arabia to further unlock investment and employment prospects.
