DCI boss Amin Mohamed and Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja announced that the MP worked with his assistant and other proxies to stage his capture, including staying at a hotel during his alleged abduction.
During Parliament proceedings, National Assembly Junet Mohamed questioned the lengths politicians can go to prove a narrative.
"To my shock, the report tabled in Parliament is what I can term as the biggest political scandal in our country. When I saw the first photo, from the way he was sleeping, I knew it was a fake thing. The way I saw the shirt, the stomach looking up, I knew it wasn't anything," Junet said.
Junet suspected a similar script in former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua's impeachment session, where he suddenly fell ill and was rushed to the hospital, simultaneously skipping the cross-examination at the Senate.
"Any other person is not allowed to see him, only the Wamunyoro group. The director of this drama, I've concluded, is none other than Mr Wamunyoro. This is the same thing he did during the interrogation at the Senate when he admitted himself to the same hospital. This is the same script. This country is full of drama," Junet added.
"I want to thank the NPS for the swift investigations they've done on this matter. If they would not have done these investigations, the self-abductions would have gone up."
National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung'wah echoed Junet's remarks and called on the respective institutions, including the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) and Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), to take action over the matter.
"The DPP must do his work, EACC must do its work in the matter of ethics of public officers, the powers and privilege committee, which you Mr Speaker chair, must take action. The people of Juja must know you can recall an MP who's not working for you and is only singing praises to another man," Ichung'wah noted.
The Kikuyu MP appealed to his colleagues to ensure the matter is prioritised to serve as a lesson for other leaders seeking to perform political theatrics.
"He also claimed last year that MPs were paid Ksh.2 million to vote for the Finance Bill. He appeared in this House and apologised and we let it go. But now, as a House, we must not let it pass," the legislator pointed out.
During the session, the MPs called on Dr. Dan Gikonyo, founder of Karen Hospital, to bar such theatrics from occurring at the facility.
They also questioned why some MPs whom House Speaker Moses Wetangula had tasked to visit the Karen Hospital and look into the matter were denied access to see Koimburi, while former DP Rigathi Gachagua and his allies were allowed to see him.
"I want to speak to my good friend, Dr Gikonyo, not to allow his hospital to be misused by common street criminals. Hon.Koimburi also alleged that MPs were paid Ksh.5 million to impeach the former DP," Ichung'wah added.
The MPs heavy criticism of Koimburi and his political allies came after the National Police Service (NPS) and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said ongoing investigations have established that the Juja MP faked his abduction for political gains.
The Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja and DCI boss Amin Mohamed said upon interrogation of three additional suspects in the alleged abduction, they found glaring and inconsistent gaps disabusing the forceful abduction.
