Comedian Jalang’o wins Lang’ata MP seat
Mr Odiwor was running on an ODM Party ticket and garnered 38,948 votes, with his main rival, the incumbent MP Nixon Korir, collecting 36,836 votes.
Mr Korir was contesting under the UDA party and had earlier conceded defeat after provisional results showed that the former radio presenter was taking a dominant lead as of Wednesday.
In a Facebook post, Korir thanked his supporters and the people of Lang'ata for giving him a chance to represent them at the National Assembly and further congratulated his competitor for the win.
"From the results that we've tallied at the Generali centre, my competitor Jalango has a lead and I want to congratulate him as he prepares to take the mantle and move Langata forward. Siasa si chuki. God bless Langata," said Korir..
"To the people of Langata, I sincerely thank you for according me an opportunity to be your Member of Parliament for the last 5 years. It's been a great opportunity that gave me an avenue to contribute to our nation building and service to the people."
Other contestants in the race to dethrone Korir were Caroline Jepkemboi of Usawa kwa Wote party, Thomas Awili (Independent), KANU’s Osman Abdulahi, Cliff Aboki (Ford Asili) and Susan Odongo (Independent).
