Citizen TV YouTube channel hits 2.3 billion views

Citizen TV’s YouTube channel has reached yet another milestone; crossing the 2 billion views mark.

At the time of publishing, the channel had amassed a total of 2,358,621,769 views across its 160,197 videos.

The YouTube channel was created on August 7, 2008 and boasts 4.47 million subscribers. It was the first channel in Kenya to surpass the elusive 1 billion views mark in January 2022.

Citizen TV, which is the flagship brand under the Royal Media Services (RMS) umbrella, is the country’s leading media news station, according to previous separate surveys by both the Media Council of Kenya (MCK) as well as GeoPoll.

A May survey by the Aga Khan University Graduate School of Media and Communications on media consumption in an evolving digital world ranked Citizen TV, Citizen Digital and Radio Citizen as the top media brands consumed by millennials and Generation Zs.

RMS late last year also launched the Citizen Digital App, which brings together all the company’s offerings on one platform.

At no cost, consumers of the app enjoy a wide range of diverse offerings including digital exclusive stories, extended coverage of news events, as well as a range of podcasts.

According to a February report released by the Media Council of Kenya (MCK) on the State of Media in 2022, Citizen Digital ranks among the top most viewed news websites in Kenya.
