Christmas in jail for Standard Journalist Laban Cliff Onserio
An anti-terror court Friday ordered the
detention of Standard Media group journalist Laban Cliff Onserio for three more days as the
investigation into claims of terrorism continue.
The court directed the anti-terror police unit to release him anytime before
Thursday, December 29 if they do not have anything to charge him with.
This means the police can release him on police bond if they deem it fit.
The magistrate said Onserio is not yet in the hands of the court and told police to release him if they do not prefer charges against him.
Onserio was presented before court but police did not bring a charge sheet against him.
The journalist is accused of illegally being in possession of a stun grenade and threatening to blow it during an altercation in Nairobi.
He was arrested on Sunday, December 18 at the Holy Family Basilica basement by anti-terror detectives who were called in by the church’s security guards after he was involved in an altercation.
