China to build Kenya's new Foreign Affairs Ministry headquarters
Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary (PS) Korir Sing'oei made the announcement on Friday, highlighting that China will spearhead the construction project.
"Grateful to the Government of the People's Republic of China for its commitment to support the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the construction of the Ministry's new headquarters as a visible marker of 60 years of diplomatic relations," Sing'oei said in a statement on X.
"Received the technical team in charge of project design in my office today."
Sing'oei did not reveal how much the project will cost Kenyan taxpayers.
The Old Treasury building along Harambee Avenue has served as the residence of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs over the years. Initially, the Ministry operated from the Office of the President until it was moved to the Treasury building in 1980.
