Chapati, five-day all-expenses-paid trip to Dubai: Inside MP Ndindi Nyoro's Masomo Bora programme

This is according to an educational programme unveiled by Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro and supported by Kiharu NG-CDF.

The principal of the best-improved school in each sub-county in Kahuro and Muranga East counties will receive a five-day, all-expenses-paid trip to Dubai.

This is according to an educational programme unveiled by Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro and supported by Kiharu NG-CDF.

The programme will also award teachers for the best improved subjects per sub-county with a four-day, fully sponsored trip to Kenya's coast.

According to the outspoken MP, Masomo Bora wants to help all 62 day secondary schools in the constituency, which has a student population of over 15000, by ensuring that all students in Kiharu have equal access to education.

School fees in selected schools have been reduced to Ksh. 1000 per term as part of a supplementary support programme.

At the same time, all schools in the constituency with fewer than 100 students will receive free full school uniforms for students joining Form 1.

Students in the said schools will also benefit from a 6-day feeding programme which will include a daily portion of Uji and rice for 3 days a week as well as chapatis on the last Friday of every month.

Form One students joining the twenty schools will also have their first-term fees paid in full by the constituency.

Nyoro stated in a document detailing how Kiharu Constituency used its NG-CDF allocation that some of the funds were used to renovate and tile all 112 schools in the area.

A portion of the funds were also used to install Cabro in ten public schools as well as to build and open eight new secondary schools.

Another amount was set aside for the distribution of bursaries to various educational institutions.

According to the MP, a 100 million fund has been set aside from the NG-CDF kitty for infrastructure development, including the construction and renovation of laboratories, libraries, classrooms, multipurpose halls, and other development needs over the next two fiscal years.

The MP further says that all secondary schools in the region will benefit from tiles and landscaping, with the MP stating that Ksh.20 million has been set aside to purchase revision materials for all 62 day secondary schools.
