CCTV footage shows how 19-year-old woman, Lawrence Gitonga checked into Kasarani apartment at 3am

DCI detectives in Nairobi probing the death of a 19-year-old girl who died after falling from the 10th floor of an apartment in Thome estate, Kasarani area are pursuing three people who were in contact with the girl and her partner who was found unconscious with stab wounds inside a short-stay house he had rented.

Citizen TV has obtained exclusive CCTV footage that captured the last moments when the two checked into the apartment at around 3 am Saturday after a night of merry-making before the girl was found dead wearing a t-shirt only.

In the footage, Lawrence Gitonga is seen leaving the lift on the 10th floor while holding the hand of the 19-year-old girl.

He heads in the wrong direction before turning back and heading straight to the short-stay apartment.

He goes for the house keys and comes back to open. This whole time, the girl is waiting outside the door.

Gitonga manages to open and the girl is seen entering the house first before he follows.

This is the last time the girl was seen alive as hours later her lifeless body was found outside the apartment. She only had a red T-shirt.

In a surprise turn of events, the man she had checked in with at the temporary stay apartment was found unconscious inside the house with eight stab wounds on the chest and back.

Blood splattered on the floor of the sitting room and bathroom walls a clear indication of either a struggle between two people or a man fighting for his life.

Preliminary investigations reveal that the girl could have jumped or pushed from the balcony of the house.

Sources close to investigations have told Citizen TV that three people who were in contact with the two before the incident are being sought to help with investigations.

Police are also expected to visit a club in the Roysambu area where the two are believed to have met on Friday night before they drove to Thome where they had more drinks.

Detectives are also studying CCTV footage and monitoring their last movements to unravel the mysterious murder.

Gitonga who was rushed to Uhai Neema Hospital after being found unconscious inside the house is under police guard at the hospital as he is treated as the main suspect.

The body of the 19-year-old girl is lying at City Mortuary as police look for family to notify them before a post-mortem date is set in the course of this week.
