Pioneer newscaster Catherine Kasavuli's burial underway in Vihiga

Pioneer newscaster Catherine Kasavuli's burial is underway at her rural home in Zululu village, Vihiga County.

A number of prominent leaders are expected to attend the interment.

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, Azimio deputy presidential candidate Martha Karua, and National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangúla are among the leaders who attended the burial.

On Thursday, Kasavuli's friends and family gathered for a memorial service at the Friends Church along Ngong Road.

Kasavuli was eulogised as a gifted and kind person.

Kasavuli, 60, passed away on December 29, 2022 at the Kenyatta National Hospital after a long battle with cervical cancer.

She is survived by her son, Martin Kasavuli.
