Capital Group appoints Symon Bargurei as new Managing Director

Capital Group Limited has announced the appointment of Symon Bargurei as its new Managing Director, effective June 1, 2025.

Bargurei, a seasoned executive with over 18 years of experience in commercial strategy, media management, and enterprise growth, steps into the role with a proven track record of steering transformative change across Kenya’s top-tier organisations in both the media and fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sectors.

Before this appointment, Bargurei served as Group Strategy and Innovation Director at Unga Holdings Limited. His career has also included notable leadership roles such as Commercial Manager at Nation Media Group and various senior positions at The Standard Group Kenya Limited.

Recognised for his strategic foresight and innovative approach, Bargurei has championed major initiatives in business transformation, product innovation, market development, and brand growth.

He is also well-regarded for his mentorship and ability to inspire teams while developing consumer-centric strategies that deliver sustainable competitive advantage.

Bargurei holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Nairobi and an Executive MBA from Strathmore Business School.

He has further refined his leadership credentials through executive programmes at globally renowned institutions including the University of Oxford (UK), IESE Business School (Spain), Strathmore Business School (Kenya), and the Gordon Institute of Business Science (South Africa). He is also an active member of the Institute of Customer Experience (ICX).
