Candidates given until Feb 21 to register for repeat KCSE exam
Two weeks after announcing the mid-year
series of the KCSE examination cycle, the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC)
has called for the registration of potential candidates beginning Monday, 26th
of January 2025.
In a circular signed by KNEC CEO David
Njengere, the registration targets repeating candidates who wish to improve
their previous grades, where they will be categorised as full repeaters sitting
seven or more subjects or partial repeaters who will be registering for less
than seven subjects.
Similarly, the registration is also open to
those who had previously registered for KCSE but were unable to sit for the
examinations, as well as adult learners who are not enrolled in any regular
school but have proof of primary education.
The council noted that learners attending
regular school and sitting KCSE for the first time are not eligible for
registration into the July series as well as learners who do not meet the
requisite qualifications under the KNEC regulations for KCSE examination
candidates.
Candidates are required to register at
their respective county headquarters, where apart from submitting original
copies of their identification documents, KCPE certificate as well as KCSE
certificate or result slip for repeat candidates, they will pay a sum of Ksh.7,200
through the eCitizen platform.
According to KNEC, the July series KCSE
examinations will be issued on diverse dates between January 2025 and 1st
August 2025.
Prospective candidates have until 21st
February 2025 to register for the examinations.
The government earlier this month announced the introduction of the July series
KCSE exams, as the country slowly phases out the 8-4-4 system where the final
KCSE exams will be written in 2027.
