Businessman Suleiman Shahbal honoured at Mombasa Gala Awards

The Mombasa business community on Sunday joined forces to laud Suleiman Shahbal, Chairman of GulfCap Real Estate, Africa's largest real estate developer.

Shahbal was bestowed with a prestigious award, acknowledging his remarkable contributions and steadfast support for the local business community.

The distinguished honour was conferred upon Shahbal during the Mombasa Business Awards Gala Dinner, a distinguished event hosted by the Kenya National Chambers of Commerce and Industry. The ceremony took place at the Sarova Whitesands Hotel, marking a momentous occasion for the acclaimed businessman.

This recognition aligns seamlessly with GulfCap Real Estate's recent accolade as the best real estate developer in Africa, bestowed by the African Union for Housing Finance (AUFC) in Namibia just last month.

The gala dinner, held in November, coincided with the launch of Phase 2 of the Buxton Point project in Mombasa by President William Ruto. GulfCap Real Estate, under Shahbal's leadership, has undertaken monumental projects that not only redefine skylines but also address the pressing need for affordable housing.

Among these initiatives are the Starehe Point project in Nairobi, valued at Sh20 billion, and the Sh6 billion Buxton Point project in Mombasa, both focusing on providing a unique lifestyle for residents.

Mustafa Ramadhan, Deputy President of the Kenya National Chambers of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI), expressed that the award serves as a testament to Shahbal's significant impact and leadership within the industry. He lauded Shahbal as a trusted advisor on matters of trade and investment, emphasizing his consistent support for the business community.

Abud Jamal, Chairman of KNCCI's Mombasa chapter, highlighted Shahbal's influential leadership, noting that his success story has left a lasting impact on many within the business community.

Taking to his Facebook account, Shahbal expressed humility, stating, "The chamber mentioned that the award is in appreciation of my service, devotion, and support to the business community, but it is my honor to appreciate them for having confidence in our leadership. I am humbled!"
