Businessman Nashon Angudha charged over Ksh.37M fraud
Businessman
Nashon Otieno Angudha has been arraigned in court and charged with two criminal
counts.
Angudha
is alleged to have conspired to steal over Ksh.37 million from Surindah Singh
by falsely pretending that the money was meant to hire a private jet and payment
of insurance and taxes for 300 kilograms of gold.
According
to the prosecution, the gold was to be transported from Kenya to Dubai, a fact
the accused person knew to be false.
It
is alleged that he committed the offence between July 13 and 18 October 2023 at
Runda Glory Valley estate within Nairobi County.
He
faces a second count of obtaining money by false pretences.
Angudha
pleaded not guilty.
His lawyers
asked the court to release the accused person on bail and that his items which
were confiscated upon his arrest including a motor
vehicle be released.
The
cash bail ruling is to be delivered on Friday.
The
prosecution opposed an application to have him released on bail.
Last
year, Nashon was charged at a Kibera court with allegedly using force to rob an
Italian Ksh.13.5 million shillings, forgery and indecently touching a woman.
He
pleaded not guilty and was granted a bail of Ksh.300,000.
