Busia County, Netherlands to partner in improving livelihoods
The government of
the Netherlands has placed strategies to collaborate with the Busia County
government to improve the basic structures in the health, agriculture and business
sectors as one of the ways to do away with poverty.
Netherlands
Ambassador to Kenya Maarten Brouwer said the main objective of investment in Busia County
is to improve the economic environment of the locals and to enable the county
to benefit from business in the East Africa region.
“We could reduce
the harm done in terms of health, water and sanitation and there is also a
program that is ongoing that’s going to try and resolve sanitation problems. We
also have the clear objectives of this county government in terms of
development, in agriculture and edible oil,” Said Mr. Brouwer
Busia Governor
Paul Otuoma praised the partnership for what he said will be of great help to
his government in achieving the set goals of improving the lives of the
natives.
“Those are the
areas...some they are already doing, some were going to open up a new avenue of
collaboration, and more important is how to promote trade in the East Africa
region and the European region,” said Otuoma.
