Busia: Child among two killed in Butula-Bumala road accident
According to police reports, the driver of the speeding vehicle lost control in the Mashinani area of Murumba after failing to negotiate a corner, colliding head-on with a bodaboda operator and his pillion passenger, a five-year-old girl.
Both the rider and the child died on the spot.
By the time the vehicle came to a stop, its two occupants, a man and a woman, had sustained injuries.
"Due to the impact, the rider and his Pillion passenger namely a female child aged 5yrs died on the spot while the driver sustained a slight injury on his chest, multiple cuts on both hands and his Passenger a female adult aged 36 yrs sustained serious injury on the head and her chest," a police report documenting the incident reads.
The injured were subsequently rushed to Busia County and Referral Hospital for treatment.
"Scene visited, documented and the bodies removed to Same Day Classmate Funeral Parlor to await Postmortem and the vehicles towed to Murumba Police Post and detained to await inspection. Case PUI," the police report reads.
