Bungoma: Man arrested for beating daughter to death

Police in Chesikaki, in Mt. Elgon, Bungoma County have commenced investigations to uncover circumstances that led up to a middle-aged man beating his daughter to death.

Maurice Toto, 41, reportedly attacked his 23-year-old daughter, Esther Nasimiyu, on Thursday night, following a clash of opinions over an unspecified family matter.

Nasimiyu’s lifeless body was later discovered in her room on Friday at noon. According to police, her body bore multiple body injuries inflicted by a blunt object.

Area chief Morris Wetala, while confirming the incident, urged parents to embrace alternative disciplinary methods as opposed to corporal punishment.

Toto is currently being held at Chesikaki police station pending arraignment while Nasimiyu’s body is being preserved at Sante Hospital Mortuary awaiting postmortem.
