Bullish MP Salasya now flaunts Ksh.500K in cash after court ordered him to pay debt

Controversial Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya has now flaunted Ksh.500,000 in cash and asked his debtors to collect it from his office amid a stand-off with a Kakamega-based businessman.

In a now viral video, the MP is seen bullishly telling the claimant to collect his dues as he downplayed the said debt and criticized the recent ruling that ordered him to pay businessman Robert Lutta the said amount with interest.

The first-time lawmaker continued with the rants, which he also directed towards Kakamega Small Claims Court Resident Magistrate Gladys Kiama for ruling against him in the case.

“Nilisema hiyo pesa ni kidogo lakini hiyo ujinga ambayo wanataka kunifanyia hao watu wa Kakamega Law Courts, wanafikiria they can be used to finish me politically. They are lying that I have threatened a magistrate…nilikuwa wapi?” A seemingly irate Salasya posed in the video.

“Kujieni pesa kwa ofisi…hako kawakili kengine kajinga kananisumbua kakinitusi kwa mitandao, kuja chukua kwa ofisi, ndio hii pesa! Ukitaka ata ingine nitakuongeza! Mnaniharibia jina kwa social media but I don’t care!”

According to Salasya who is no stranger to the limelight for his tendentious acts, the ruling was aimed at tarnishing his political name in the region.

He slammed his critics saying he would not be cowed and that he is not bothered by the ongoings surrounding the case.

The sentiments by the legislator come amidst calls by the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) to have the MP arrested after he allegedly threatened the magistrate who delivered judgement in the debt case.

Salasya is alleged to have made death threats against Magistrate Kiama outside the courtroom shortly after the ruling on Monday.

Lutta had filed a case challenging the legislator to pay the aforementioned money he lent him on December 13, 2022, with the agreement that he would repay after two months.

The Kenya Magistrates and Judges Association (KMJA) has also since come out to condemn the MP’s actions, calling for quick probe into the alleged death threats.
