A Brazilian man has broken the Guinness World Record of the
farthest eyeball pop.
Sidney de Carvalho Mesquita, also known as Tio Chic,
earned a place in the prominent reference book by popping out to a protrusion
of 18.2 mm (0.71 inches) beyond his eye sockets.
Explaining the ability which he describes as an exceptional
talent, Mesquita said he discovered he could pop his eyes farther than other
people at the age of nine.
He said that at first, his parents were concerned that it
might be a symptom of a disease, but fortunately it was not.
"My skill is definitely a gift. It came from my father,
my mother and the creator, too," said Mesquita.
He likened the feeling of popping of his eyeballs to
"letting go of some part of my body."
Whenever he pops his eyes out, which is anywhere between 20
to 30 seconds, he said he loses his ability to see for a few seconds before
they can re-focus.
It doesn't hurt when he does the tricks, but he can feel a
certain burning sensation as the oxygen begins to dry his eyes out. Therefore,
he can't keep his eyes exposed for too long.
Mesquita added that he takes care of his eyes by using eye
drops to lubricate them, especially when he goes to events.
