Bramex enhances UK-Kenya trade with personalized address tool and advanced tracking

Bramex, a leading logistics firm renowned for shipping parcels and goods from the United Kingdom to Kenya, has introduced a new tool empowering its customers to generate personalized UK addresses.

The provision of personalized UK addresses aims to facilitate shipping goods from the UK to Kenya, especially for online shoppers purchasing items from the European country.

Additionally, the company has adopted new technology to provide customers with real-time notifications on the movement of their packages from Europe to Kenya. This advancement ensures enhanced transparency and convenience throughout the shipping process.

The improved tracking capabilities allow customers to receive instant email notifications, enhancing visibility and control throughout the shipping process. This new technology is a significant benefit for individuals and owners of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) who purchase UK-made products and ship them to Kenya.

Apart from real-time tracking, the company has also integrated convenient payment options like MPESA. By adhering to international shipping standards and protocols, we ensure safety and security during transit, bolstering customer confidence, said Mr. Adan Omar, Director of Business Development at Bramex.

“The bundled shipments for cost efficiency, real-time shipment tracking, and convenient payment options have given us a competitive edge. These offerings ensure a seamless shipping experience, giving customers confidence that their goods are in safe hands with Bramex.”

This development comes as the latest figures released on May 17, 2024, by the UK government show that trade in goods and services (exports plus imports) between the UK and Kenya is growing.

According to statistics, total trade in goods and services between the two countries reached Ksh.233 billion (£1.4 billion) by December 2023, an increase of3.9% compared to the same period the previous year.

Kenya was the UK’s 79th largest trading partner as of December 2023, accounting for 0.1% of total UK trade, according to the data. Shipping goods from the UK to Kenya poses several challenges, including UK stores not directly shipping parcels to Kenya and high shipping costs for individual packages.

“Bramex addresses these obstacles by offering customers personalized UK addresses, streamlining the shopping process from UK stores, and consolidating multiple packages into single shipments to reduce costs. Businesses in Kenya benefit from our services by gaining access to UK-made products, expanding their product offerings, and potentially reducing shipping costs through consolidation,” said Mr. Omar.

The Economic Survey 2023 by the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) indicates that imports from the United Kingdom increased from KSh.33.6 billion in 2021 to KSh.34.7 billion in 2022.

According to statistics by the Kenya High Commission in London, there are approximately 250,000 British nationals who are permanent residents in Kenya, and over 200,000 Kenyans living in the UK who also send and receive parcels from the two sides.
