Bradley Marongo: Meet Kenya's 8-foot 'Goliath' Gen Z taking the internet by storm
Standing at an impressive 8 feet, Bradley Marongo towers over
almost everyone he interacts with daily due to his unique stature.
Marongo, now known as ‘Goliath Gen Z,’ is well-known in
Kangemi, where he often hangs out and hustles. He is recognized by many online
as the ‘Kenyan giant’ and has been going viral, impressing and awing Kenya with
his extraordinary height.
He especially became a familiar face during the protests
against the Finance Bill, where even police were seen talking to him in
amazement.
"I went viral during the maandamano when someone posted a
video of me. Since then, I've become a familiar figure, and I've been getting
recognition ever since," he said in an interview on Citizen TV on Friday.
The 27-year-old, who weighs 120 kilograms, notes that he is
used to the attention because of his height, although it took a while.
He opened up about his life and the challenges he faces due to
his physical appearance, most notably his height. He added that he struggles to
get simple and basic things like the right clothes and shoes.
"I do not know of a company that makes my shoe size. I
tried to look for one unsuccessfully. That’s why I am always in sandals, which
are custom-made. I can’t remember the last time I wore shoes. I do not even
have a bed because they do not come in my size," he said.
Away from the spotlight, he is just a man trying to survive
and provide for his family by working at a stage terminus in Kangemi and
through content creation. According to him, both his parents are not tall like
him.
"I work as a tout in Kangemi, and I also create content.
I am married with two children, and I enjoy watching basketball, which is why
you see me wearing this jersey," he said.
Due to his spectacular height, Marongo is the perfect example
of a 'giant' man, and he likes to think of himself as the 'tallest man in
Kenya.'
