Boni Khalwale, once recorded throwing stones at rivals, mocked for criticising MP Peter Salasya

Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale is probably
regretting a conversation he started on X after Kenyans countered his own
morality sermon with evidence of him doing just the opposite.
The Senator, affectionately known as the
'Bull Fighter', took to the microblogging platform to call out a range of
violent Kenyan politicians, lamenting how the countryโs political sphere had
been turned into a vicious battlefield.
"Our
leaders have gone mad. From an MP shooting a DJ go another shooting a mad dead,
to others pitting rival goons against each and not to this! Kenyan voters must
seriously retrospect," he tweeted.
Khalwale was
reacting to the viral video of Mumias East MP Peter Salasya publicly slapping a
local MCA after a brief misunderstanding at a funeral.
Like
everyone else, the Kakamega Senator must have been revolted by the continued
stream of senseless violence witnessed from various political gatherings across
the country - but his decision to address the menace quickly turned him into an
object of mockery.
While
calling out his double speak, Kenyans travelled into the past and dug out photos
of the lawmaker collecting and hurling stones.
Dressed in
an untucked blue shirt and black cap, Khalwale was photographed collecting and
throwing stones during the chaotic Kibra by-election back in November 2019.
The photos
quickly made their way back into the conversation, with many people reminding
the Senator of his own violent past - a stark contrast to his current
'non-violence' gospel.
While
attaching the photos and without saying much, X user @Kachwanya simply asked,
"Isn't this you?"
Another user
asked, "Didn't you get photographed stoning Kibra people not too long ago?
How different were you actions then from what is happening today? You're all
the same! Spare us the pretense!"
On his part,
user @mungaimururi said, "Classic case of the kettle calling the pot
black! Zile mawe ulikuwa umebeba Kibera zilikuwa za kujenga nyumba za
Affordable Housing eh? Very nice..."
Back then
when the photos went viral, Khalwale explained that he was left with no option
other than to defend himself against the youths who had turned violent and were
baying for his blood.
"I
waited for them, then about 30 youths came carrying stones. I was confident and
I wanted to face them like a man and a bullfighter from Ikolomani,"
Khalwale said then.
Our leaders have gone mad. From an MP throwing stones at peaceful protestors. Kenyan voters must seriously retrospect. https://t.co/xgEFA5za0D pic.twitter.com/cCV3jaNjM2
