The officers shot at the private car after the driver defied orders to stop at a roadblock erected in Kapkwen area, towards Bomet town from Kisii general direction.
According to Bomet County police commander Robinson Ndiwa, a signal was activated to officers at the next roadblock mounted in Longisa area to use the necessary force to stop the vehicle.
They then shot at it and deflate the tyres while the driver was trying to make another U turn to avoid being checked.
Ndiwa added that due to the impact of the shooting one of the occupant got injured and was rushed to a private medical facility where the driver and four other occupants were arrested, and their car, a Toyota Noah towed to Longisa police station.
"After they surrendered ,we frisked their belongings and we didn't find anything fishy, it seems the driver wanted to avoid being asked why he was carrying passengers and other related offenses" added Ndiwa.
