Bomet: Man kills wife with a claw hammer in domestic wrangle
Police in Korara area of Bomet County are
investigating a homicide case where a middle-aged man allegedly clobbered his
wife to death using a claw hammer in what appears to have been a domestic row.
According
to Bomet East sub-county Police Commander John Karani, the 30-year-old woman
succumbed to injuries as the suspect, Niphael Kiprotich Ngetich, fled the scene
after committing the heinous act.
Following
the incident, detectives processed the scene and recovered the killer's weapons
including a claw hammer, a kitchen knife and a wooden stick.
The
police boss said the body of the deceased had also been mutilated.
"The
body had deep physical injuries and also some parts were cut off. It seems he
also used the kitchen knife to kill her. We are yet to establish exactly what
transpired before the incident," said Karani.
An
area neighbour said a commotion and a wild cry were heard coming from the
couple’s compound before the man was seen leaving hurriedly towards the Bomet-Narok
highway.
The body of
the deceased has since been moved to the Longisa County Referral Hospital mortuary.
