Bomet: Man accused of killing his father in dispute over green maize flees

Police in Chepalungu, Bomet county are in pursuit of a 22-year-old man who allegedly killed his father in the Chepsostuiyet area and went into hiding.

According to Chepalungu sub-county police commandant Phanton Analo, the suspect, Maxwell Mutai had an ugly, alternation with the deceased, Wesly Mutai 48, before he attacked him with a machete, killing him on the spot.

Analo said the assailant left the body in the maize farm and upon examination the body was found to have severe deep cuts on the head, left hand and left limb inflicted by a sharp object and the scene had signs of struggle with blood spilled at different points . 

In a police report, the source of conflict is traced to be a dispute between the deceased and his son on how the deceased was planning to harvest the green maize from the farm for undisclosed use.  

The scene was processed and the body moved to Kapkatet hospital mortuary. The killer weapon is yet to be found.
