Body of man trapped in Siaya mine retrieved

Siaya DDC Robert Ng’etich, who oversaw the entire exercise, decried the disregard of safety precautions by miners. 

He said they have disregarded advice that mines are likely to cave in this season due to the heavy downpour the area is experiencing.

On Tuesday afternoon miners were trapped inside a shaft while pumping water and as a result, they were deprived of oxygen, three were rescued and are recuperating at the Siaya referral Hospital.

The body of the deceased has been taken to Siaya Referral Hospital mortuary.
