Billy Mwangi says currently not on X, warns fans against duplicitous accounts
The Embu resident, who reunited with his family on January 6 after more than two weeks of disappearance appeared in a video on Tuesday clarifying the matter and thanking fans for their support.
"This is Billy Mwangi. Those guys who are using my Twitter accounts and parodies are not me. I am not on Twitter. Mine was hacked and they took my phone. Incase of anything, I will update you guys in due course," he said.
Mwangi went on to thank his X comrades and Embu residents for the support extended to him during his capture.
"To my Twitter family, i love you so much. To all comrades from Nairobi to Embu, thank you so much," he said.
He also went on to reveal that during his detention, he endured a dehumanising experience that has left him mentally disturbed.
"Even though they shaved me, I'm back and healthy and still recovering slowly," he said. "I'm still not OK mentally but I'll will be fine."
Prior to his abduction, Mwangi had been using an X account under the handle @Psychosins. The account disappeared just a few hours after he was forcefully abducted and bundled into a waiting car.
Soon after he was released, several X accounts purporting to be him popped up - one goes by the handle @BillyMwangi_1 and boasts a decent 9,000+ followers.
In one of the tweets shared 17 hours ago, the user wrote: "I will never use the name psychosins again in my lifetime it has caused me alot! APOLOGIES FAM."
