Baringo residents protest, close roads over poor health services at Marigat hospital

Residents of Marigat in Baringo on Wednesday staged protests blocking the Marigat-Nakuru Highway to complain about the poor quality of healthcare at the Marigat Sub-County Hospital.

Hundreds of locals closed their businesses and marched through the town of Marigat before gathering at the Marigat Sub County Hospital gates.

The residents complained that the hospital has not had ambulance services for over a year, lacks medicines and doctors further accusing medics at the facility of incompetence.

The protests happened after two children who were hit by a car died, allegedly for lack of an ambulance to take them to the hospital.

The residents threatened to close the hospital if the health issues were not resolved.

They said that the Marigat Hospital ambulance was damaged and has not been repaired.
