Baringo man arrested after decomposing body of wife was found in his house

A 25-year-old man from Kasisit, Baringo County was arrested on Tuesday evening after the decomposing body of his wife was found inside his house.

Dennis Kipsang was apprehended by police after neighbors, disturbed by a foul smell emanating from his house, broke in and discovered the decomposing body of 21-year-old Sharon Chelagat, with a wire around her neck.

Baringo North OCPD Mohamed Abdi, while confirming the incident, said that preliminary reports indicate the man killed Chelagat five days ago, allegedly motivated by a love triangle.

The suspect who is a watchman at Kabiyewo Primary School, is now in police custody awaiting prosecution.

He is detained at Kabarnet police station while the deceased body is preserved at Baringo County referral mortuary.

The suspect, aged 25, is suspected to have killed Sharon, a mother of his child.

It's alleged that the two had disagreed over Sharon’s suspected love affair with a police officer stationed in the area. On seeing that things were out of order, she asked for forgiveness to return to her matrimonial home.

Denis accepted. Little did she know the danger awaiting her.

On the fateful night the husband offered to cook dinner where he poisoned the meal. When the poison could not kill her, he is said to have strangled her.

Christopher Ruto, the suspect’s cousin, said that he believed that they had parted ways when she took her personal belongings to move in with the police officer.
