Police in Elgeyo Marakwet are on high alert
following yet another bandit attack at Kaben village where a Kenya Defence Forces
(KDF) helicopter crashed on Thursday afternoon and killed 10 soldiers, among
them the Chief of Defence Forces General Francis Ogolla.
The daring bandits attempted to drive away an
unknown number of livestock under the full glare of police.
Police reports say no livestock was driven
off by the bandits believed to be from Pokot.
The bandit raid happened with KDF officers
still on the ground trying to piece together information regarding the ill-fated
chopper crash on Thursday afternoon.
According to police reports, the bandits
engaged in a 30-minute gun battle in the village amidst sparking fear amongst
locals.
The armed bandits later on vanished into the
thickets with police launching a manhunt for them.
It is yet to be known whether there were
casualties in the Friday raid.
