Lang’ata Member of Parliament Phelix Odiwuor Jalang’o has backed the Nairobi gubernatorial bid of his Embakasi East counterpart Babu Owino in the 2027 General Election.
According to
Jalang’o, the only thing currently standing in-between Owino and City Hall is
the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party ticket.
However, the Lang’ata
lawmaker went on, even if Owino fails to secure the nod from ODM to fly the
party’s flag in the race, he is still the clear favourite to win the seat
regardless.
Jalang’o went on
to also open up on his own Nairobi gubernatorial ambitions, stating that he
will take over the seat from Owino in the 2032 elections, during which he said
the Embakasi East legislator will most likely contest for the country’s top
seat.
“Babu Owino
akipewa hiyo ticket ya ODM…nakuambia leo hii, Babu atakuwa Governor. Na ata
asipopewa, anaenda kusumbua sana…mimi nakutayarisha katika uongozi wa His
Excellency Babu Owino, Governor Nairobi,” Jalang’o said during an interview with
veteran radio personality Alex Mwakideu on his YouTube channel.
“Na unajua anapiga
one term ananiwachia kama amepanda juu nimeshikilia Nairobi. Akipanda juu sasa
ni rais, kwa sababu 2032 inaenda kupata kiwanja sasa iko free…ni vita ingine
tofauti…ni vijana sasa wataingia pale…”
