Energy Cabinet Secretary James Opiyo Wandayi now blames a section of Kenyan leaders for Raila Odinga’s loss during the recent African Union Commission (AUC) elections.

Wandayi says that following the celebration by a section of people after Odinga's loss, 'they have now known their genuine friends'.

The CS argued that whereas President William Ruto was busy campaigning for Odinga to win the AUC seat, some Kenyan leaders, whom he never mentioned, were busy campaigning against him.

"This AUC elections cycle has shown us very many revelations. As a people it has made us know who are our genuine friends and who don’t mean well for us," said Wandayi.

Wandayi made the remarks at Odera Akang’o University campus during the burial ceremony of Prof. Bethwell Ogot in Gem Yala sub-county where Kisumu governor Prof. Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o challenged the broad-based government to strive to addresses the plight of the Kenyan people.

He stated that the ODM party only stepped in to save the Kenya Kwanza government which was on the brink of collapsing as a result of the Gen Z revolution but cannot sit to watch them failing to address the issues that are affecting the people.

The Kisumu governor stated that ODM helped to extinguish the fire during the anti-government protests but is not ready to continue fighting the fires if the government cannot listen to the needs of the Kenyan people.

On his part, Siaya governor James Orengo stated that the fact that some of their members are in government cannot bar them from pointing out inefficiencies as they wait for the ODM party’s turn to form its own government.
