The court has issued an arrest warrant for Alfred Mbugua
Gicheha for absconding court sessions for 14 months.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI),
Mbugua was initially arrested on May 24, 2023, in Sipili area of Laikipia West
Sub-County for the illegal possession of game trophies.
Detectives drawn from DCI Headquarters Serious Crime Unit
intercepted a vehicle driven by the suspect and found 23 pieces of game
trophies weighing approximately 110.5 kilograms with a street value of
Ksh.11,050,000.
Following his arrest, Gicheha was charged before JKIA Senior
Principal Magistrate’s Court on May 27, 2023, for the offence of dealing in
endangered wildlife trophies. He was subsequently released on a Ksh.3 million
bond.
The DCI noted that the suspect has since failed to attend
court summons on multiple occasions, prompting the Presiding Magistrate to
issue a warrant of arrest against him.
The detectives are now calling on members of the public to
assist in delivering information that could lead to his arrest.
