Musalia Mudavadi’s led Amani National Congress (ANC) party is set to hold its ddelegates'conference in late January.

According to a statement by the party on Tuesday, Secretary-General Simon Kamau Gikuru stated that the party's conference slated for January 23 would be held at the Bomas of Kenya.

"Pursuant to the provisions of Article 16.4 (b) and Article 47(2) of the Constitution of Amani National Congress Party (Amended October 2021), and thereunder, I hereby convene a special meeting of the National Delegates Congress of the Party to be held at 9:00 am on 23 January 2022 at the Bomas of Kenya, Nairobi," read the statement," read the notice.

Kamau further revealed that the main focus of the conference would be to choose the party’s flag bearer and issue directions towards its stand in regard to the One Kenya Alliance presidential bid.

“The avowed purpose of the forum will be to ratify specific decisions of the Amani Council, ratify Amani Council nomination of the Party Leader, as the Party's Presidential Candidate in the National elections scheduled to be held in August 2022 and to ratify amendments to the Amani National Congress Party Constitution.

Following this year's presidential contest, ANC has been keen to underscore its commitment in fielding Mudavadi as the favorite in the August General Elections.

“We are trying to persuade our partners and show them the value that Mudavadi is bringing as flagbearer for OKA. It is not an easy task, it is quite tough, but negotiations are going on and we urge our supporters to be patient with us,” Gikuru said in a past interview.

"ANC is very committed to the One Kenya Alliance. We are working very hard to see to it that this alliance will survive this political season,” Gikuru added.

The statement comes just as Deputy President William Ruto’s UDA and his political rival ODM leader Raila Odinga continue to woo the ANC leader into their camps.
