All Saints’ Cathedral advertises for Provost position - Here are the qualifications

The All Saints’ Cathedral Church in Nairobi has advertised for the position of Provost ahead of the expiry of the term of Reverend Canon Dr. Sammy Wainaina.

The Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK)-owned ministry made the announcement on local dailies and its website urging all interested candidates to submit their applications on or before the 4th of next month.

According to the notice, the Provost will be in charge of the All Saints Cathedral Church (ASC) and will be under Archbishop Jackson Ole Sapit or the Diocesan Bishop Sammy Wainaina.

“The Provost provides overall leadership to the Cathedral ministry in articulating and implementing the vision, mission, strategic objectives, and the entire operations of the Church while maintaining the dignity, heritage, and values of the Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK),” read a section of the advertisement.

Among the key academic requirements for the job include a Masters's degree from an institution accredited or recognized by the Commission for University Education (CUE) and any of the degrees to be in theology or divinity.

The candidates are also required to be born-again Christians with a minimum of 10 years post-ordination experience, five of which must be in congregational leadership and management of a large Church.

“...Born again with demonstrable commitment to Jesus Christ and the word of God and appreciation of the Anglican Church traditions and liturgy,” read the statement.

The current ASC Provost Reverend Dr Sammy Wainaina's term comes to an end this year after holding the position since 2013.

The term of office for the Cathedral provost is a five-year contract renewable once.
