Aga Khan University Hospital opens Roysambu Specialty Care Centre
Aga Khan University Hospital has opened a Specialty Care Center in Roysambu bringing specialised care closer to where people live.
According to the Aga Khan University Hospital Chief Operating Officer, Outreach Network, Khurram Jamal, the Roysambu Specialty Care Centre is offering dialysis, chemotherapy, endoscopy and other daycare surgery services, at lower costs compared to the main hospital charges.
“The facility will be supported by the renowned Aga Khan University Hospital specialists who will be coming from the main hospital to take care of the patients hence delivering the same quality of care you’d receive there but at a subsidised cost,” said Mr Jamal.
“The physicians at Aga Khan University Hospital are qualified professionals in their own disciplines who have gone through their fellowships and have many years of experience. They are supported by a well-trained nursing staff and other caregivers providing the same level of care in this facility as one would expect in the main hospital”
“Whereas we are giving the same level and quality of care as the main hospital, the services have been priced comparable to what would be offered in the area here meaning that they price friendly to the people in this area,” added Dr. Abdalla Abdulkarim, the Chair of Surgery at AKUH, N.
Located on the ground floor of Jewel Plaza in the populous Roysambu area, the facility is the latest addition to the 50 AKUH, N medical centres spread across East Africa in Kenya and Uganda.
“The objective of this clinic is to bring specialised services closer to the community to the people who need it,” added Dr Christopher Opio, a Gastroenterologist conducting endoscopy services at the centre.
Jamal added: “This centre is inspired by the need to increase access to quality care, which is one of the key values of the Aga Khan University Hospital, in addition to impact, quality and relevance.”
