Abduction controversy deepens as MP Wamumbi alleges suspicious meetings at Gachagua's hotel

Mathira Constituency Member of Parliament, Eric Wamumbi, has written to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) requesting an investigation into alleged suspicious activities at Olive Gardens Hotel in Nairobi.

The opulent hotel is linked to former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua, who has become a vocal critic of the government he once served in following his ouster last year.

In a letter to DCI Director Mohamed Amin on Monday, Wamumbi expressed concern about meetings at the facility, possibly related to the ongoing national debate on abductions.

"I have written to DCI to inform them of abductions in the country. I have information that meetings are being held where youths feign abductions and are held incommundo by the chief architect, who is none other than Gachagua himself. I hope they will storm there and release the youths," said Wamumbi.

According to Wamumbi, some people may be using the venue to stage fake abductions in order to incite public unrest.

He emphasised the importance of investigating these claims to avoid unnecessary panic and maintain public trust.

While expressing sympathy for parents dealing with the difficult issue of missing children, the legislator warned against groups seeking to spread misinformation or incite conflict.

The MP also urged Gachagua to stop attacking Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja, whom he described as a neighbour in his Wamunyoro village.

"Gachagua should stop attacking kanja he is a professional police officer out to maintain law and order infact he should stop this habit of attacking and finishing people from his village" said Wamumbi.

The call for an investigation comes as public concern about abductions grows, particularly among Kenyan youth, some of whom have been linked to government criticism.

Earlier this week, the National Police Service (NPS) issued a statement regarding recent cases of missing persons.

The trio had been reported missing at Embu Police Station, Kabete Police Station, and Thogoto Police Post, respectively.

Additionally, Bernard Kavuli Musyimi, who had been reported missing at Ngong’ Police Station, presented himself at Moi’s Bridge Police Station and is now assisting investigators with further information.
