AA Kenya launches 2025 Road Safety Excellence Awards

The Automobile Association of Kenya (AA Kenya) has unveiled the 2025 Road Safety Excellence Awards, an initiative aimed at recognizing individuals and organizations making significant contributions to road safety across the country.

The awards, which align with the United Nations Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021–2030, seek to highlight and encourage initiatives that reduce traffic-related incidents and promote responsible road use.

In a statement, AA Kenya said the awards will honour efforts such as innovative training programs, community awareness campaigns, technological solutions, and policy advocacy geared towards safer roads.

Eligibility criteria require nominees to be registered and operational within Kenya, with demonstrable road safety initiatives that have had measurable impact.

Submissions must also include supporting documentation such as photos and illustrations. The nomination period closes on May 10, 2025.

The awards feature multiple categories including Community Engagement, Driver’s Safety & Wellness, Insurance Company of the Year, Road Safety Innovations, and Matatu and Boda Boda SACCOs of the Year.

Others are: Digital Taxi Operator of the Year, School of the Year, Traffic Base Commander of the Year, Motor Financier of the Year, and EV Champion of the Year among others.

Winners will be announced at an awards gala scheduled for June 6, 2025.
