70 candidates graduate from Women in Technology program
Huawei Kenya and Safaricom’s Women in Technology team on Friday held a graduation ceremony for candidates who completed an AI Training Challenge.
70 women pursuing STEM related courses in university took part in the AI training challenge, a 2-month program held from July 2024 – September 2024 under the Huawei ICT Academy.
One graduate, Hope Mutanu expressed gratitude in the program, hailing the course leaders for their support.
“I look forward to impacting more people with the knowledge gained and the soft skills acquired,” said the AI Training Challenge Graduate.
Striving for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion- the Women in Technology initiative has aimed at increasing the number of women taking up STEM courses in the university and taking up more technical roles in the industry across different professional levels. The programme entails training and mentorship.
Huawei and Safaricom have banked on the Women in Technology programme partnership to foster great opportunities for women in STEM, building capacity and mentorship to upcoming young leaders.
“We have co-created to facilitate learning, as we fuel your passion and initiative to prepare for tomorrow's opportunities...may you and many more seize this rare chance to be tomorrow's technologists, entrepreneurs and innovators,” Donna Rege urged graduates.
