59-year-old man sentenced to 15 years in jail for defiling 10-year-old girl

A Kiambu court has sentenced a 59-year-old man to serve 15 years in prison for defiling a minor aged 10 years.

The court was told that Joseph Makangu committed the offence between December 2022 and January 2023 in Gituamba village, Kiambu County.

“The prosecution called a total of 5 witnesses, and before the accused was sentenced, a victim impact statement was filed where the court noted that the minor's social life was affected and that she developed some complications on her private parts,” the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) said in a statement on Friday.

“She was affected psychologically, and her performance in school dropped. The court directed that the minor be taken to specialists for treatment & counselling.”
