51pc of Kenyans believe country headed in wrong direction: Infotrak

51percent of Kenyans believe that the country headed in the wrong direction, a new poll by Infotrak has revealed.

According to the research and consulting firm, high cost of living, corruption, unemployment and poverty are to blame.

The report has it that 61percent of participants who took part in the poll blame President Uhuru Kenyatta for taking the country in the wrong direction.

Only 15percent said he is not to blame for the current situation, Infotrak CEO Angela Ambitho said on Thursday.

Those who said the country is going in the right direction stood at 36percent while 13percent of participants had no clue.

72percent of them attributed the right direction to the president while 11percent said he is not the one behind it.

On the Big Four Agenda, which currently tops President Kenyatta’s priority list, 53percent of those polled were not aware of it while 47percent said they are aware.

The Infotrak poll numbers showed that Central region leads in awareness of the big four agenda at 61percent.

Nairobi came second at 59percent and Nyanza third at 54percent.

Lack of awareness was the highest at the Coast (65percent), followed by Nairobi (46percent), Western (66percent) and Rift Valley (58percent).

Other parts of the country where Kenyans are aware of the Big Four Agenda are Central (61percent), Nairobi (59percent), Nyanza (54percent) and North Eastern (53percent).

92percent of those who know about the Big Four Agenda said they support it.

1500 respondents from 24 counties took part in the Infotrak poll between November 29 and December 1 this year.
