At least 50 out of the nearly 1,500 Dorper sheep that were
stolen from the former President Uhuru Kenyatta family-owned Northlands farm have reportedly been returned.
The sheep were stolen by a gang of goons who raided the farm while armed with machetes and axes in the melee of the opposition Azimio
la Umoja One Kenya coalition party’s anti-government protests on March 27,
2023.
According to sources, the first batch of 18 sheep
were found in Dandora by police who reportedly received tip-offs. The officers
identified the sheep as belonging to the Northlands farm through their tags.
The second batch of 30 sheep were then returned in
a truck with a concealed license plate and dropped at the gate of the Kenyatta
family property.
The raid on the former Head of State’s land
happened almost simultaneously with an attack at opposition leader Odinga’s gas
company Spectre, leading to allegations of a coordinated plot targeting the two
Azimio bosses.
Odinga, during a past address, accused President William Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua of being
the masterminds behind the invasions.
Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome later said a probe had been launched to bring to book goons who carried out the attacks; no one is however yet to be arrested.
