Murdered Molo activist Richard Otieno.
Officers from the Homicide Investigations Bureau and the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau (CRIB) have arrested three suspects linked to the murder of activist Richard Otieno alias Molo President.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Monday said Peter Oketch, alias DJ IO, Joseph Kihara Kariuki, alias Jose, and Evans Aseka Okututi were forensically connected to the crime scene.
According to DCI, the three, together with others who are still at large, were transported from Molo to Elburgon to carry out the heinous act.
“Following the incident, Peter Oketch and Joseph Kihara Kariuki fled to Majahida in Bariadi District, Tanzania, in an attempt to evade capture. However, they returned to Kenya on Friday, February 21, 2025, after Tanzanian authorities closed in on them,” the DCI said in a statement.
The suspects together with their accomplice are expected to appear before the Nakuru Chief Magistrate's Court on Monday for custodial orders.
DCI on February 3, announced the arrest of five other suspects linked to the murder of Otieno, whose lifeless body was found on January 18, 2025.
A post-mortem examination of the late activist revealed that he died from severe head injuries inflicted by a sharp object, likely a machete or axe, used multiple times.
The investigation body says detectives are ramping up efforts to bring more suspects to book.
