22-year-old man throws his father into 20-feet deep pit in Bomet
The victim, Samuel Tanui, spent two days in the pit without being noticed and on the third day he managed to make a loud noise after hearing some voices of people crossing meters from the pit, attracting them to his rescue.
Neighbours mobilized themselves and the old man was rescued and rushed to the hospital having some bruises on his back.
According to Emitiot sub-location assistant chief Leny Ngeno, the suspect, Charles Kiplangat Rotich, was arrested after returning home at night thinking his father had died.
Police officers from Longisa pounced on him immediately after he stepped into the compound and is currently held at Longisa police station.
"We are happy that it didn't rain during the period the old man was inside the pit. The story could have been different, it's not easy for a man of his age to spend two nights in a cold place considering he also starved for that period," added the chief.
