200 girls graduate from life-skills training program in Marsabit
The graduation ceremony, presided over by Marsabit County’s First Lady, Alamitu Jattani, took place at Moi Girls Secondary School, Marsabit.
The training empowered the participants with vital life skills and knowledge on key social issues.
Led by experienced facilitators, the sessions covered topics such as the dangers of female genital mutilation (FGM), early marriages, teenage pregnancies, drug abuse, gender-based violence, and health matters including HIV/AIDS and HPV.
The program also emphasized understanding personal rights, fostering a sense of agency and confidence in the young women.
A unique aspect of the camp was the involvement of parents, including fathers, in discussions with their daughters—a significant step in breaking traditional taboos and fostering open communication within families.
As the graduates return to their communities, they carry not only newfound knowledge but also a commitment to be ambassadors of positive change, challenging harmful practices and advocating for healthier, more inclusive communities.
