The boy being taken to hospital by his grandmother after being assaulted by his father.
A two-and-a-half-year-old boy is recovering from serious injuries at the Homa Bay County Referral Hospital after allegedly being assaulted by his biological father.
The incident occurred
shortly after a domestic dispute between the father and the child's mother, a
Form Four student at Pap Ndege Secondary School in Homa Bay Town Constituency.
The boy sustained multiple
injuries during the attack, prompting neighbors to intervene.
His grandmother, Majuma
Yago Agunga, rushed him to the hospital, where he is currently receiving
medical care.
Medical staff at the
facility, led by Homa Bay Referral Chief Executive Officer Dr. Vincent Oduor,
have confirmed that the child’s condition is stable but remains under close
observation.
Dr. Oduor said they have
launched an investigation into the incident, with children’s rights advocates
and local leaders calling for swift justice and stronger protection for
vulnerable minors.
He condemned the act and
urged parents and guardians to resolve domestic disputes without involving or
harming innocent children.
The doctor also appealed
to the public to speak out against child abuse within their communities.
The suspect remains at
large, and police are pursuing leads to apprehend him. Meanwhile, the child’s
mother is receiving counselling and support from local community welfare
groups.
