158 rolls of bhang, 37 knives, 3 pangas recovered as 16 suspected muggers arrested
Police officers in Nairobi on Friday arrested
16 suspected muggers following a sting operation targeting criminal elements
in Embakasi estate.
The officers recovered a toy pistol, 37
knives, 3 pangas and 2 hammers from the alleged gangsters who were nabbed at their
perceived base of operations in Transami area.
"Villa Police Station officers from
Embakasi, Nairobi, yesterday arrested 16 suspected muggers from their hideout
within Transami area," the National Police Service (NPS) said in a
statement.
The security agents likewise recovered 158
rolls of bhang, 2 litres of chang'aa and 10 Kenya Power meter boxes, which are suspected
to have been stolen.
NPS further thanked Embakasi-based National
Government Administration Officers (NGAOs) and area residents for their roles
in ensuring that the operation was a success.
